Dr Benjamin Cribb

Dr Benjamin Cribb is a Laparoscopic General and Colorectal Surgeon specialising in advanced minimally invasive, laparoscopic surgical techniques for Tauranga and the Bay of Plenty. Dr Cribbs speciality surgical interests include; Endoscopy, Laparoscopic Hernia repair, Bowel Disease, Rectal and Colon Cancer surgery and HALRAR Haemorrhoid surgery.

Dr Benjamin Cribb is a consultant general surgeon with sub speciality training and expertise in colorectal surgery. He specializes in minimally invasive / laparoscopic surgery for a wide range of colorectal and general surgical conditions. 

Dr Cribb completed his medical degree from The University of Auckland in 2008 and underwent general surgical training in New Zealand, attaining his Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons in general surgery in 2019. His general surgical training was undertaken throughout New Zealand including; Taranaki Base Hospital, Whangarei Hospital, Tauranga Hospital and Middlemore Hospital.

Benjamin then completed a further three years of sub-specialty training in colorectal surgery completing the prestigious 'Australia and New Zealand Training Board in Colon and Rectal Surgery' fellowship training program where he gained extensive experience in the latest robotic and minimally invasive surgical techniques. His fellowship training included one year in Melbourne at Epworth Hospital, one year in Adelaide at Queen Elizabeth Hospital and one year at North Shore Hospital in Auckland.

Dr Cribb has published widely in the fields of general and colorectal surgery. He continues to undertake research in these fields at Tauranga Hospital. He has a special interest in improving the health of Māori people and is currently the chair of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons Indigenous Health Committee advocating and working towards equitable surgical health outcomes for indigenous patients. 

Dr Benjamin Cribb is from Ngāti Maniapoto and Ngāti Tamaterā.
